Abigail Betz

Abigail Betz’ childhood fascination with sewing and designing led her to study a National Diploma in Fashion Design, during which she won the award for the Best Couture Collection of the Year. Abigail started her own company in Cape Town in 1997. She has won various awards and taken part in 14 Sanlam South African Fashion Week (SSAFW) events.

Her style is characterised by femininity and romance. In mid 2008 Abigail Betz opened her flagship store in the Mall of Rosebank/ Johannesburg, which stocks her ready-to-wear, couture and bridal dresses.

Abigail Betz can be seen as a revolutionary in her field. Always pushing the boundaries. She uses fashion as a powerful means of expression. Eg. For her Summer 2009 collection at SSAFW( Sanlam South African Fashion Week), called ”Screw The Recession” she commented on a world in chaos but where the individual should remain positive and focused and not be sucked in by fear. Abigail’s work forces people to think about their own lives and to dig deeper and do more or to make changes.” Fashion is not fickle and very relevant. It is our silent means of expression.”
