Boudoir D'Huitres

Mimi Plange, who launched the luxury label Boudoir D'huitres in 2007, is a strong believer in producing beautiful and long-lasting clothes with superior workmanship and construction. With a penchant for aesthetic and detail, pieces from the house of Boudoir D’huitres are made from only the best materials and designed to last for decades.

“I design clothes that accent the character of the woman wearing it,” says Mimi. “The clothes reflect the woman. They have an appealing, understated glamour. The emphasis in on substance and the highest quality rather than image.”

Mimi Plange was born in Accra, Ghana, but moved to the United States with her mother and four siblings at the age of five, settling in southern California. The daughter of a Ghanaian entrepreneur, Mimi was steeped in the world of fashion and glamour from an early age. Friends would come to her home seeking artistic fashion advice. She would draw sketches of designs, transforming skirts into tops, blouses into dresses and jackets into shorts. Mimi often found herself mesmerized with music, art, drama and all things Victorian, Edwardian and Romantic.

Mimi graduated from the prestigious University of California, Berkley with a major in architecture and minor in dramatic art. Upon completion of her studies, she decided her heart belonged to designing clothes rather than buildings. Mimi then interned at an internet firm for luxury and high fashion clothing, which exposed her to the business side of luxury and premium designer fashion. Later she enrolled in San Francisco’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, completing her degree in 2001.

Upon graduation, Mimi packed her bags and headed to New York City. Mimi quickly found a job working as a merchandiser for a New York jewelry firm. Mimi Plange spent many years as a consultant in the fashion industry, including stints with Patricia Fields and Rachel Roy before going on to launch her own venture in 2008.

Mimi launched Boudoir D’huitres as a testament to her vast knowledge of design and desire to bridge the gap between American sportswear and French haute couture. Since its inception, Boudoir D’huitres has been featured Vogue UK, Marie Claire, GLAMOUR, COSMOPOLITAN, HARPERS BAZAAR, NYLON, S MAGAZINE, GENLUX MAGAZINE, TIMEOUT DUBAI, ISSUE ONE, Luxury Insider and Zink Magazine to name a few and has been worn by The Princess Astrid of Belgium, Rihanna, Paris Hilton, Katerina Graham.

Mimi Plange currently resides in New York City, where she oversees the Boudoir D’huitres label and where she is continually inspired.
