AFI Congratulates Quiteria & George for dressing Beyoncé at Global Citizen Festival

Founder and CEO of African Fashion International (AFI), Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, congratulates Quiteria Kekana and George Malelu for reaching a milestone in fashion by dressing global superstar Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.
The American music icon changed into various outfits during her two-hour long set alongside her husband Jay-Z at the Global Citizen Festival, held at the FNB Stadium on Sunday 2 December. For her finale, she chose the emerald green haute couture piece designed by the duo Quiteria and George.
The emerald green ensemble was inspired by the “METAMORPHOSIS” line that the duo showcased at AFI Joburg Fashion Week in October. They have also showcased a couture collection at AFI Cape Town Fashion Week earlier this year.
Quiteria and George were the only African designers to dress Beyoncé and they stole the show with their showstopper outfit.
Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe extended her congratulations by saying, “It warms my heart to see our local talent receiving international acclaim at such a high level. The fashion industry is a multi-billion rand industry, and we hope to see this international recognition translate into business success”.
AFI was founded to propel African talent toward local and international acclaim, with emphasis on commercial success.
“We are proud of their achievements because we know that the duo is creative, hardworking and passionate about their craft. Beyoncé chose this outfit, from thousands of other international designs. This further proves that our local designers can compete at global levels,” Dr Moloi-Motsepe added.
AFI’s unequivocal determination to develop and present world-class African fashion, through internationally recognised platforms, aims to shine a light on the incredible skills and creative talent found on our continent.
Following this victory, AFI would like to wish Quiteria and George continued success in all their future opportunities.
