It’s a wrap – Reset, Reinvent, Reimagine!

AFI fashion week Joburg 2020 opened on the 12 th November with a robust masterclass discussion on
Inclusivity and Diversity in the Fashion Industry facilitated by Tumelo Mothotoane and panelist Felipe
Mazibuko, Nandi Madida, Sasha Lee Olivier and Zozibini Tunzi our own Miss Universe.
The fashion shows shown over the 13th and 14th November was an intimate and enchanting fashion
film that stirred the interest of local and international audiences from the comfort of their homes.
Guests secured their free seats to this restructured African fashion experience, which was just a click

The fashion film reset the runway, offering a reinvented platform for Africa’s talented designers to
showcase their garments, which reimagined contemporary African lifestyles through the context of our
present-day challenges. Immediately following their film debut, global audiences were able to shop
the collections at
The film began with a journey of AFI and African fashion to highlight its influence on the talent being
presented this season.
AFI Fashion Week took its cameras to locations around the country, each of which added additional
storytelling elements to the collections on show. These backdrops included the Johannesburg Lion
Park, the Lesedi Cultural Village, and most notable the Constitutional Hill Museum, where our
izimbokodo where prisoned for fighting for their freedom.
Indeed we Reset, Reimagined and Reinvented the industry, a big milestone for AFI Fashion Week.

The decision to go the virtual route came as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, which upended the
fashion industry’s status-quo around the globe.
AFI Management and the team is touched by the overwhelming support received from fashion lovers
across the continent and the world, something we are deeply grateful for.
